New "Promotion" Feature on TikTok! Is It Worth It?
TikTok released the new “Promote” feature that allows you to promote your content without creating campaigns in the TikTok Ads Manager platform. You can access the “Promote” feature by clicking on any video you have posted and selecting the third button called “Promote”.
It is important to note that you cannot promote any videos that contain music for copyright infringement.
Once you click on the “Promote” button it will take you to the screen below where you can choose the goal of your promotion.
From there you can choose an audience that is generated by TikTok or you can customize the audience to your liking. The example below allows you to see the customization options when building your own audience for promotion.
The three categories you can customize are gender, age, and interests. While the options are limited, this may be a great boost if your post has potential.
Lastly, it’s time for payment. In order to pay for promotions you need to first purchase TikTok coins. These coins can be purchased under “Balance” and come in a number of packages.
Once you purchase coins you can now promote your post.
You have 2 variables you can control when finalizing your promotion, budget & duration. Your daily budget is measured in TikTok coins. A good reference for this is every 500 coins is about $7.50. The minimum daily budget is 500 coins and the minimum duration is 1 day so your minimum possible spend for a promotional campaign is about $7.50.
So what do you get for $7.50? Approximately 2,000 views. With the massive organic reach posts can achieve on a regular basis I don’t think that the new “Promotion” feature is worth pursuing.
